The Winchesters 1989 and The Winchesters 2010  

Here are some snapshot type paintings with stuff from the boys and John
first in 1989 when Sam and Dean would have been about 6 and 10, and then when they were all grown up in 2010.

Painted this back in March/April and had it posted over on my dA account. Was a little surprised at the reference to toy soldiers in Swan Song ^^. Had a lot of fun painting the rain, I actually took photos of water on the windows of my car.

Well this would never have been painting, if it weren't for Petite-Madame, who suggested the idea of a 2010 version. I think she wanted more guns though, lol, sorry for lack of guns you have instead copious amounts of blood! For this one I wanted a reference to the angels instead of demons, which the last painting seemed to focus on. The colours in this too were inspired by the beautiful-room where the angels take Dean at the end of S4 and in S5, though this would be a cheap tacky motel room version.


Resources:
Textures used were either from Mayang's texture library or Lost and Taken
The picture frame in the 2010 version was from here on Stock.xchng. I painted over and manipulated a lot, rather than painting from scratch.

OMG!! Becc!! You did it!!! I can't believe you already finished it! When we talked about it two days ago I thought you were far from the end but it's here and it's just BRILLIANT!!! (sorry for unleashing the capslock fury but I just had to!)

You were right not to listen to me with the "more guns, more blood" thing. It's just me you know : there is never enough blood, guns and monsters when it comes to Spn fan ars! It's just PERFECT like that!

Ok, I don't know what I love the most, the gun, the perspective, all the details!!! WOW!! I think it's the gun! All the details, the precision it's mind blowing!!! You were already super good when I discovered your works but the way you improved in the last couple of months is just incredible!!!

THANKS A LOT!!!
(And my Ipod tells you thanks too, now the little thing has a new wallpaper ^^)

Lol, I did actually start last weekend or before that I think (I'm just never totally convinced somethings going to work until the last minute) I'm really glad you like it :D And thank you for saying I'm improving - really appreciate that. And hey thanks for the idea!!

Re: The blood. I actually had a lot of fun painting in the blood, I kept saying to myself 'when in doubt, add blood!' At least I know one person likes it! I kinda have my reserves about posting it on dA. :D

Glad you like the gun, I ended up putting curls and flowers and everything on it too, for the fancy decorative bit.

BTW (you probably noticed this)- the little motel card thingy reads: Wayward Sun Motel, as a tip toward the song - Wayward Son. Sorry just needed to share my fangirl geekness with someone.

These are fantastic! It seems shocking to realize that they put me in the mood to write maybe even more than art where the boys are present. These set your imagination on fire, and stir the heart a little, more than faces do?

the first one looks familiar so i'm guessing i saw it on da in the spring. i love both of them as separate pieces (especially wayward sun motel, heh) - they're both so detailed and realistic and full of things that are important to the boys - but together you can really see how much things have changed between then and now, in terms of what's important and how the boys protect themselves and what's different. i mean, in 1989 they didn't have to worry about bandaging each other up and bleeding on their stuff.

These are both so beautiful. The idea is original and brilliantly executed and it's so sad it makes me ache. Your attention to detail is magnificent, I giggled so hard at the "Wayward Sun Inn".

I love the detail in both (and lol at the toy soldiers getting Kripke'd xD)
and the Amulet hanging in the second one is awesome (and sad...dammit, i want it back DDD; )

These are utterly gorgeous. There's so much detail that has so much meaning that represents the Winchester even without them in the picture. Amazing!

Wandering in from the Supernatural newsletter and WOW these are GORGEOUS. As still life they have a lot of interest, but for fandom they each tell a whole story. These are amazing; especially what you chose to include in each.

Wow. :o Okay, skating over the fact that you are clearly insanely talented ;)... my favourite bits are without a doubt the raindrops on the window in the first one and the lamp in the second one. How deliberate were your colour choices, out of interest?

thanks very much :D Makes me happy that people like these works...re:colours-they were pretty deliberate choices. I do small colour tests to see what i like and what works before painting...For me blues were an obvious choice for the night time scene of the first painting, and I wanted something nostalgic but very sad...
For the second piece i thought yellows, creams and green would be a good base to play the blood off, plus those colours remind me of the 'beautiful room' where the angels take Dean, and I really wanted something S5 specific.

Wow. These are absolutely stunning. I love the colors and the contrast between the brightness of the two pieces. I love how the pictures tell such a sad story about the brothers with the glimpse at their everyday lives. I love the toy soldiers and the amulet. I could probably keep gushing about these forever, I love them that much. Thank you. :)

These are gorgeous! I love the rain on the window and the demon handdrawn on notebook paaper in teh Weechester one, and the blood spatter and torn corner of the angelic lore page in the new one.
